Euro 7: The countdown for brake systems compliance has started
The article «AVL announces that time is running out for the alignment of the brakes with the Euro 7 standard» published by Automotive World on October 27, 2025 recalls an urgent reality: the new particle emission limits from braking will enter into force from November 2026, and up to 60% of current systems may not be compliant.
Why does Euro 7 change the situation?
In the Automotive World article, it is explained that for the first time, the Euro 7 standard is not limited to exhaust emissions. It imposes strict thresholds for fine particles (PM10) generated by brake abrasion:
- 3 mg/km for light electric vehicles
- 7 mg/km for other light vehicles
- 5 mg/km for light electric utility vehicles
- 11 mg/km for other light commercial vehicles
These requirements will apply to new vehicles starting in November 2026, and then to all models 12 months later. For manufacturers and equipment suppliers, this means a thorough overhaul of braking systems.
A major technical challenge
Measuring and reducing brake particles is a new field for most players. Unlike combustion emissions, these particles have a complex composition and variable sizes. Adapting existing systems can range from a simple pad change to a complete overhaul of the braking system, the article emphasizes.
AVL indicates that some brakes emit more than 20 mg/km, well beyond the Euro 7 limits. For internal combustion and hybrid vehicles, which use more of the brakes, the challenge is even greater.
Tallano Technologies: a solution ready for Euro 7
At Tallano Technologies, we turn this constraint into an opportunity to improve air quality.
Our patented TAMIC® technology is an active solution that captures up to 70% of braking particles, allowing builders:
- to anticipate Euro 7 compliance,
- to significantly reduce harmful emissions,
- to contribute to sustainable mobility.
Already successfully tested on heavy vehicles in real conditions, TAMIC® stands out as a concrete response to regulatory and environmental challenges.
